In order to continue to produce the highest quality brood stock, embryo transfer offers an effective solution to increase the reproductive potential of valued does.

Embryo transfer involves the “superovulation” of a genetically superior doe (donor) that are then transferred to other doe recipients where they will be a surrogate mother, gestating the donor’s kid. In a goat’s typical lifetime, they can only produce one or two kids per year. With embryo transfer, the eggs in the valued doe donor can be harvested and transferred into other dams where they would carry the elite offspring, thus maximizing their reproductive potential to up to a dozen kids per year. In addition, embryo transfer allows breeders to maximize the output of genetically elite goats and make rapid changes to their herd genetics.

How it works:
The donor female is inseminated with an elite original buck. The donor female is flushed where the potential embryos will be harvested. If fertilized, the embryos will be transferred to the recipient females.

We have chosen semen from the first original savanna bucks that offer the genetics we feel will produce the most superior and advantageous traits along with our own first-class females (3DS Susan and 3DS Madonna) who have produced superior offspring through their years.

This will be a process for sure. We are excited to be able to offer superior kids from the best of the original savanna lines. As we go through this process will we update this page with information as well as pictures of our journey.
